Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes

  • Residency Affidavit (PDF) – A student who is seeking classification as a Florida resident (in-state) for tuition purposes must complete a residency affidavit as a part of the admission process. The residency affidavit must be received no later than the first day of the session/term in which residency is sought. Students wishing to provide additional information to support a request for Florida residency may submit a supplemental form (PDF) with the residency affidavit.
  • Request for Residency Reclassification (PDF) - A student who is classified as a non-Florida resident (out-of-state) and seeks reclassification as a Florida resident (in-state) must complete the residency reclassification form and submit with all supporting documentation prior to the first day of the first session/term in which residency is sought.

Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)

Postsecondary job preparatory programs vary in length from 20 to 1,800 hours. Students entering programs which are 450 hours or more are required to be assessed in basic reading, mathematics and language skills. Prior to the completion of their respective programs, those students who score below the prescribed grade levels on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) will be required to enroll in basic skills training (VPI) and be retested to demonstrate attainment of the prescribed skill level for their respective programs of study.

Exceptions

Students entering Law Enforcement Officer, Correctional Officer or Crossover From Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer must complete the appropriate Basic Abilities Test as part of the application process to these programs. These students are not required to complete the TABE. Students interested in these programs should contact the appropriate program manager regarding testing requirements.
